Ordeal by Innocence by Agatha Christie

For the letter O in my ABC HF Challenge I chose Ordeal by Innocence by Agatha Christie.
I love a good Agatha Christie book and Ordeal by Innocence did not let me down. The story begins as Dr. Calgary, a scientist just returning from and Antarctic expedition; discovers that a man he gave a lift to two years early had been charged with murder and died in prison. Jack Argyle had been charged with murdering his mother, however claimed he had been miles away at the time being given a lift by a stranger. Dr. Calgory is distraught at the knowledge that he was this poor mans alibi and unable to help him. Against the wishes of the family attorney he goes to them to tell them he is sorry for not being here for the trial and to assure them Jack’s innocence. However, rather than relief at the knowledge of his innocence and maybe some anger towards Calgory for not saving him, the family turns on Calgory. Cursing him for bringing the knowledge to them. For what Calgory didn’t know, was that if Jack didn’t murder his mother, someone else in the family had.

The rest of the book is filled with Christie’s trademark logic and clues to help discover who really killed Mrs. Argyle. It was a great story and kept me guessing right up to the end, like a good mystery should.
