Mysterious Stranger by Mark Twain

For my Classical Challenge category "Read a book that has been on your shelf for more than a year" I read Mark Twains Mysterious Stranger and Other Short Stories.
Unfortunately, I cant say many positive things about the stories. Each story was a little different, some humor, some religious, etc. The Mysterious Stranger, the longest by far (approximately 140 pages) was not my cup of tea. It was a heavily religious story about angels who played with humans like puppets. It is set in Austria in 1590. Many of the shorter stories were written in the typical Mark Twain style of strong southern slang. Being a true Northerner most of the slang was lost on me.

  1. I had never heard of this one until my coworker started talking about it (she thought it was really weird) and strangely enough it's sitting on my shelf at home without me knowing it! Guess I'll let it sit a little longer.

Twain's use of southern dialect is tough--it helps me to read it outloud sometimes (definitely helpful with Huck Finn).
